Charlotte FC trades for former Charlotte 49er, midfielder Brandt Bronico
Brandt Bronico (born 1995) ex-NC Fusion youth player was announced as player for Charlotte FC on December 18th 2020.
Bronico is not new at city of Charlotte. He was a 49er college player for UNC at Charlotte between 2013-2016. After spending four years at University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Bronico was drafted as the 47th overall pick in the 2017 MLS SuperDraft by Chicago Fire.
He made his professional debut on March 11th 2017, as an 85th-minute substitute in a 2–0 win over Real Salt Lake.
“Charlotte FC! Can’t express how excited I am to be joining you guys. Charlotte is a city that means so much to me. Where I played college soccer, where I met my future wife and North Carolina being a home state for me – I mean it just means the world for me,” Bronico said in a video message on Twitter.
Bronico’s contract was about to expire, and the Chicago Fire had previously announced the club wouldn’t be re-signing him. Because Charlotte FC doesn’t begin play until 2022, Bronico will likely go out on loan next season, potentially to a club in the USL Championship.
